Replace electrolytes lost from sweat while running and during physical activities. Water is great but if you're out for a while you'll need to replenish essential electrolytes like as sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium that you lose while you sweat.

Maintaining the correct electrolyte balance will ensure proper uptake of water so you stay hydrated. 

Electrolytes can be replenished by adding dissolvable electrolyte tabs to your water, using a mixed energy and hydration powder in your drink bottle, or taking electrolyte capsules periodically during and after your run.

Electrolyte tabs, drink mixes and electrolyte capsules come with varying amounts of essential electrolytes. If you haven't had a professional sweat test, it's good to experiment with varying electrolyte products and strengths for running to work out which products feel right for you. Some runners will only lose a minimal amount of electrolytes and sweat, while others can lose over 1 litre of water and 1,500mg sodium per hour in their sweat!
