The Gold Coast Marathon might take place in winter, but we recommend dressing cool if you're planning a hot performance.

Top Choices for marathon day clothing

• Lightweight, moisture wicking singlet or tee (men's / women's)
• Running shorts – pick a pair with pockets or pouches for race day nutrition (men's / women's)
• Moisture wicking socks – prevent blisters and heat build-up from slowing you down
• Keep your cool: Consider a cap or visor to keep the sun out of your eyes and off your head
• Sunnies to reduce glare so you can focus on the pace. Ones designed specifically for running don't bounce or slip down your nose.
• Arm sleeves if you tend to get cold. You roll them down when you warm up or stash them in a pocket.
• Optional: Personal body lubricant. Chafe prevention is so much better than trying to cure it.
• Optional: running belt to carry extra personal items (keys, phone, extra nutrition, etc.) that won't fit in your shorts.
• Optional: Disposable layer to wear in the corral. You may get cold standing around at the start but want to ditch the layer at the start line. In a pinch, a bin liner works!
• Optional: post-race comfy shoes. Something cushioned that won't rub your toes is perfect.
