This run club is a good fit if you:

  • Enjoy running and like the idea of a regular, guided session
  • Feel more motivated with a small group around you
  • Are working towards parkrun, 10 km, a half marathon, a marathon, or general fitness
  • Prefer learning and improving without any pressure
  • Want coaching, structure and progression, with options to dial it up or keep it steady
  • Enjoy member-only perks in store for shop run runners
  • Value community, routine and a good coffee after your run

The session is not a bootcamp. It is a calm, welcoming way to build running into your week with good people beside you.

What a typical session looks like

  • Welcome + warm up: easy running, mobility and simple technique cues
  • Groups by effort: we may split into small groups or give training options, so you can train at a similar effort
  • Main set: a coached workout. For example intervals, strength-focused running, tempo or progression efforts
  • Options for everyone: choose a steadier version or dial it up if you’re chasing a goal or PB
  • Cool down: easy jog and a short walk over for coffee

What to bring

  • Running shoes that you're comfortable in
  • Water, especially in warmer months
  • A head torch if it is dark where you are travelling from
  • A friendly attitude and a willingness to go at your own pace

Free gear tests

stokelab often collaborates with running shoe partners to offer free product tests and trial runs during the session. We will share these updates on our social channels and email newsletter.

Note: Running involves inherent risk. If you have any health concerns, please check with a medical professional before starting a new training routine.

shop run FAQ's

When is it?

Every Wednesday at 5:30am. Keep up to date by following us on instagram.

Where do you meet?

We meet next to the Enchanted Forest in Dorrington Park, Ashgrove. View on Google.

How much does it cost?

The sessions are free. We only require you to register so we have your details and an emergency contact.

Who leads the run?

An Athletics Australia certified coach leads our Wednesday morning runs and provides gentle guidance along the way.

What happens after the run?

We cool down together and then will usually head to Famished on Frasers for coffee and a chat.

Do I need to be fast?

No. We support a wide range of paces and use grouped running so you should always have people around you, whatever your pace.

Are beginners welcome?

Yes. We are friendly, inclusive and beginner safe. You can go at your own pace. Please be aware of your own body and health as you start this new journey but know that you're very welcome!

Can more experienced runners benefit too?

Yes. The structure, pacing support and optional efforts work well for runners building towards events or personal goals. Choose your pace and go for it!

Can children come along?

As it's a training session, which might include warm ups, drills, efforts and more, it's best suited for people who are old enough to follow the coach's instructions and participate in the group effectively.

Parents or guardians should consider their own child's readiness and ability, but as a rough guide, 8 to 10 years old may be a good starting point.

All children must be accompanied by an adult who is responsible for them at all times.

Can I bring my dog?

Service dogs are allowed to attend but please leave your furry running buddies at home.

While we will often be running in public parks where dogs are welcome, we ask that you please don't bring them along to the training sessions, even if they are well trained and used to running with people.

If a friend or family member would like to take your dog for a walk or play while you're training, there will likely be lots of post-session pats and cuddles from the dog lovers in the group!

I've registered to run. What happens next?

After completing the initial registration, we'll send you a welcome email with all the shop run session details

Do I have to fill out the registration form?

All runners must fill this out before participating, including on behalf of any children you intend to bring along.

We need to make sure you're aware of the risks involved in running at an elevated effort and we also want to know who you are and your emergency contact information, in the very rare occasion it could be needed.
